COURTS AND CASES
The Federal Judiciary Homepage: Site with links to all federal courts on the Web. Includes links to all Circuit Courts and the handful of District Courts now on the Web.
Recent Supreme Court Decisions: Cornell's Legal Information Institute's database containing recent (1990 -- present) U.S. Supreme Court decisions. Here, you can sign on to a free e-mail service that will e-mail you summaries of every Supreme Court case the day they are decided (see e-mail list below at end of page).
1937-1975 Supreme Court Decisions: FLITE (Federal Legal Information Through Electronics, complied by the Air Force) database of decisions contained in U.S. Reporters 300-422.
FindLaw: FindLaw offers an array of free resources and tools for the public, including thousands of legal sites, cases, codes, forms, law reviews, law schools, bar associations, law firms, experts, cle courses, and much more.
LAWS AND LEGISLATIVE RESEARCH
THOMAS: The Search engine provided by Congress to look for currently introduced and pending legislation. Also has links to the Code of Federal Regulations and other useful areas.
United States Code (USC):

United States Code (USC): A searchable version of the United States Code sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives and the United States Senate on the United States Government Printing Office web site.
United States Code (USC) Homepage: A searchable and/or downloadable version of  the United States Code provided by  the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, which prepares and publishes the USC.
United States Code (USC): A searchable version of the United States Code provided by Cornell's Legal Information Institute.

Code of Federal Regulations (CFR): A searchable version of the CFR sponsored by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration on the United States Government Printing Office web site.
Federal Register (FR): A searchable version of the federal government's daily announcement vehicle sponsored by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration on the United States Government Printing Office web site. All major proposals are published here.

Federal Register (FR) Environmental Documents Service: A searchable version of environmental documents published in the Federal Register.  Please note that the EPA's Federal Register - Environmental Documents service does not go back further than October, 1994.  At this site you can also  sign on to the Federal Register Environmental Subset e-mail lists, which will e-mail you the full-text of selected Federal Register documents that deal with the environment or environment-related issues the day they are published.

CONTACT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE
Here are the Web sites for the United States Senate and House of Representatives. Through them, you can find the contact information about your senators and congressperson. Although most of them have e-mail now, phone calls and letters are much more effective in presenting your opinions than e-mail, as e-mail is seen as "easy" while few people take the time to do something "hard" like write a letter or spend the money to call.

American Bar Association: General information about lawyers and their official sanctioning group.
Chemical Industry Home Page: Contains EPA and OSHA regulations and documents.
FindLaw: A very useful site with links to the codes and regulations of every state and to most federal courts and agencies as well.
Freedom of Information Clearinghouse: Public Citizen's site for information on FOIA. Includes the text of briefs they submitted in major FOIA cases.
Law.com: Source of up-to-the-minute legal news, information, court decisions and e-law services with 50-state specific sites.
Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS): Search for hundreds of MSDS from Vermont SIRI.
Pace Virtual Environmental Law Library: Useful site maintained by Pace University.
Scorecard: Environmental Defense's very useful site for locating and analyzing the polluters in your neighborhood, area and state.
WWW Virtual Library - Law: Long and useful list of environmental law resources; maintained by Indiana University School of Law.
Yahoo Legal Directory: Links to hundreds of legal sites from Yahoo.

Endangered Species and Wetlands Report: Contains articles about recent cases and regulatory and legislative actions on the ESA and wetlands. Often has the text of the latest cases.
Endangered Species Coalition: The Endangered Species Coalition is a network of over 350 organizations representing millions of Americans dedicated to the preservation and recovery of endangered species.
EnviroLink: Includes current environmental news, local opportunities for activism, and forums to discuss environmental issues.

Environmental Law Center of the Vermont Law School.
Environmental Law Institute: The Institute's collections of information from its periodicals such as The Environmental Law Reporter, The Environmental Forum and the National Wetlands Newsletter.

GreenNet: Covers environmental issues, peace, human rights and development groups. Offers email and special conferences.
IGC: Environmental Law in the USA: A very useful web site giving links to organizations, lawyers who practice environmental law, and sources for many laws and treaties.
Natural Resources Defense Council
PEER: Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility maintains a good site for government whistle blowers and others working on environmental protection.
Western Environmental Law Center: A non-profit law firm representing citizens groups and Native American Tribes in the West.
The Wildlands Project: The venture on rewilding significant portions of North America.
FEDERAL GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES
Army Corps of Engineers: The agency responsible for issuing wetland fill permits under the Clean Water Act.<

EPA's Envirofacts: A relational database that integrates data extracted monthly from five facility (or site) based EPA program systems: Superfund Data - Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Information System (CERCLIS); Hazardous Waste Data - Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System (RCRIS); Toxic Release Inventory (TRI); Water Discharge Permits - Permit Compliance System (PCS), and AIRS Facility Subsystem - Envirofacts Aerometric Information (EF AIRS/AFS)
EPA's Environmental Justice Program
EPA's Laws and Regulations: A page that links you to all the federal statutes that the EPA enforces and has programs under. These statutes are located at Cornell's Server and are hyperlinked.
EPA's Enviro$en$e: Enviro$en$e is an attempt to provide a single repository for pollution prevention, compliance assurance, and enforcement information and data bases. Included are pollution prevention case studies , technologies, points of contact, environmental statutes, executive orders, regulations, and compliance and enforcement policies and guidelines. A major component of Enviro$ense is the data base umbrella architecture for "solvent alternatives."
Superfund Records of Decision: Search the summaries of the RODs of more than 1,800 Superfund sites.

Fedworld: Site with links to all the federal agencies. Also gives access to the National Technical Information Service, which has tens-of-thousands of government documents available on-line and for sale.
Fish and Wildlife Service: Information on endangered species, national wildlife refuges and other matters involving the FWS.

The National Wetlands Inventory: The National Wetlands Inventory plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors the gathering, analysis, dissemination, and evaluation of information relating to the location, quantity, and ecological importance of the Nation's wetlands.

Forest Service: Information on the national forests and links to other forest related sites and research.

Forest Service Appeals: Where they keep appeal decision from the various regions.
Forest Service FOIA site: Find FS policy and rulings on FOIA requests.
Forest Service Manual and Handbook: the inside-the-agency policies and procedures for how they do just about everything.

United States Geological Survey: The source for maps and areal and satellite photographs of virtually anywhere on the Earth. Often, maps and photos can be useful tools in surveying and depicting environmental problems.

SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATIONS AND RESOURCES
The Center for Conservation Biology Network Has links to a number of sites dealing with ecosystem management and biodiversity.
Natural Heritage Network Central Server: Established by The Nature Conservancy and the Association for Biodiversity Information to provide information on the cooperative network of Natural Heritage biodiversity monitoring programs
The Right-to-Know Network: Site that maintains databases on releases of environmental pollutants, such as those toxic releases required to be inventoried by industry under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.
Society for Conservation Biology Experts on biodiversity and ecosystem management.
Science Weekly updates on science research collected by the American Association for Advancement of Science. Includes environmental research information.
The Scientific Resource Center Gives access to The Nature Conservancy's science programs and has links to other conservation science sites.
