Paben was appointed by U.S. Forest Service Chief Gail Kimbell to the
Southern Region Recreation Resource Advisory Committee
(RAC). This 11-member committee will provide
recommendations on recreation fee proposals on federal
lands managed by the Forest Service and Bureau of Land
Management (BLM).
This new Recreation RAC is a Federal Advisory
Committee, authorized by the Federal Land Recreation
Enhancement Act, enacted by Congress in 2004.
Specific duties of the RAC include providing
recommendations on implementing or eliminating standard
amenity fees, expanded amenity fees, non-commercial
individual special recreation permit fees, expanding or
limiting the recreation fee program, and fee level
changes.
Brett is the only representative of environmental
groups on this 11-member committee.
